Hanshin vs Yakult: 9th match.

As you can see, Standridge pitched the nine innings. Sadly the Swallows scored a run in the last inning but it is still a beautiful win. Standridge reached a base after batting his first hit and was able to go back home. He looked happier about the hit than about his pitching.

The line-up starting members are in top form. Now Toritani is used to be the lead-off: 3 hits, 1 RBI and 2 runs scored. Hirano and Murton have the 4th and 2nd better AVG of the Central League (respectively .337 and .345). Even Arai almost parked the ball. Almost... But he produced two runs.

Today's highlights:

However, not all is well in the brave new world.
The club executive, Senichi Hoshino (former manager of Hanshin and the national team), said that he wanted to renew the starting rotation. Casey Fossum was demoted to the second team after losing against the Giants last Sunday. Andoh and Tsuru had good results after returning to the first team, but Hoshino also thinks that it will be good to promote Messenger and that Uezono should be a starter again (that will be nice in my opinion). According to what he declared to Sanspo's journalists, they may also sign a foreign pitcher.

There is a new member in the first team: Hiroki Uemoto (24 years old since some days). He was one of the most promising rookies last year. This is his second season as a professional player, but for the first time he will be able to play in the big league. He did not play today, even though the Hanshin fans wanted to see him. He can play 2nd baseman or short stop, that is to say the competition against Yamato and Hirano will be fierce. It will be interesting to see him teaming with captain Tori.
