Comment: Giants' left-handed ace, their captain, and self-proclaimed rival of Nohmi. Much was expected of Utsumi this year, yet he disappointed in many occasions. Leave aside the fact that he was outclassed by the young right-handed ace, Shun Tohno. The problem is Utsumi himself: in his team, he is the pitcher that lost more runs (8 runs, 72 earned runs), and he is far from his ERA of 2.73 in 2008 and 2.96 in 2009. But Utsumi is still young and ha will still cause difficulties to his opponents next season.
