Akahoshi went to the Tigers camp to instruct his former teammates about base stealing.
Best rookie of 2001, "Red Star" was also the leader in stolen bases for five consecutive years, from 2001 to 2005.
Akahoshi has been suffering of cervical hernias for many years. After a choc he suffered during a game by the end of the 2009 season, he was told that one more similar impact could cost him his life. Therefore he was forced to end his career.
Today he gave advice to all his teammates: to the young ones such as Itoh and Uemoto, the veteran Kanemoto, and the most experimented ones like Hirano or Sekimoto.
Looking forward to see again one of the Tigers as leader of base-stealing!
