Tsuru vs Yamamoto

Today's starters did a similar performance, maybe Yamamoto's control was slightly better than Tsuru's. Hanshin reliefs lost the control on the situation in the 7th inning.

Both teams scored 3 runs in the 4th inning. Brazell batted his 17th homerun of the season. Regarding the number of homeruns, he is now ranking 2nd in the Central League, along with Wada from Chunichi Dragons and behind Ramirez from Yomiuri Giants.

Things went bad from the 7th inning on. Uezono's pitching was good in the 6th inning, but in the 7th he has to left the mound with a score of 4 to 3 and runners in first and second base. Mayumi played the wise guy sending Egusa, whereas everybody knows that Egusa is super nervous when bases are loaded. And indeed, Gotoh and T-Okada from the Buffaloes scored two runs. Since Zono has already two outs, maybe it wasn't necessary to replace him with Egusa. The outcome would have been the same, or probably better.

Sakurai scored a run with Brazell in the bottom of the 7th. But the Egusa gave up one more run in the 8th inning, and Sugiyama two in the 9th. Reliefs were specially bad today, but so were the fielders. Against all expectation Fujikawa missed a fly. Then Hirano fell over before catching the ball and even if Sakurai managed somehow to send it back to the home plate on time... Johjima dropped it from his glove.

This is a picture from yesterday. Asai doesn't seem at ease in Johjima's big arms.

Score of the other games:

Eagles 5 - 4 Baystars
Hawks 9 - 3 Carp
Lions 6 - 5 Swalows
Marines 6 - 7 Dragons
Fighters 5 - 6 Giants
