Even though Kubo is Hanshin's best starter this season, he almost lost today's game. He is still in the 4th rank of the Central League, with 7 victories and an ERA of 3.40. He was elected MVP (Most Valuable Player) of June. But unfortunately he gave up two homeruns. And unfortunately there were runners in those occasions. That is how the Baystars scored five runs.
The Tigers were one run behind until the 8th inning. Murton and Hirano played as good as always (Murton is currently in the first rank and Hirano in the third rank of the League). Arai's RBI today was 3 and he seems to be recovering his previous level. However, in this team every player can be surprising. In the 8th inning Yamato tied thanks to Kanemoto's hit. Some minutes later, Hiroki Uemoto replaced Kanemoto in the first base and tried to steal the second. When he arrived the 2nd Baseman dropped the ball. Without losing any time, Uemoto stood up and ran with his might until the home. He gave his 6th win to Ken Nishimura, who is the same age and a 2nd year pro just like him.
The highlights:
On another matter, the names of the Hanshin players elected for the All Stars Game were announced some days ago. They are three, and of course they are our two best batters and our MVP:

For those who do not know in what the All Stars Games consists, they are two matches in which the most popular players of the Central League play against those of the Pacific League. These players are elected by the fans, their fellow players and the manager of the same League responsible of the team (regarding the Central League, the manager is Hara from the Giants). This year the matches will take oplace on July 23th in the Yahoo Dome (Hawks' home) and on July 24th in the Niigata ballpark (the home of a semi-professional team, but Niigata wants a NPB team to become its tenants).
