Hanshin has to find again a starting catcher.
Johjima has been operated on his left knee and he is not sure to be able to recover before the next season starts. Kanoh, who was the starting catcher during the 2009 season, has also had an operation because of a low back hernia.
The first one to recover will probably become the starting catcher, but the other catchers of Hanshin will not let this opportunity pass by.
Okazaki: He has been a professional player since 6 years, but he only played a few games in the first team: 13 in 2009. However, he is one of the most active players of the second team.
Shimizu: With similar performances to Okazaki, Shimizu went unnoticed during this season. He was the second catcher during the past season.
Komiyama: Even if he only played about 10 innings this season, but the fact that Mayumi allowed him to play instead of Johjima seems to be a good omen.
And we must not forget the young catchers: Hashimoto, who is currently attending the fall camp ; and the rookie Nakatani, whose aim is to overcome Johjima.
