Happy Birthday Kanoh!

I would like to wish a very happy birthday to the most admirable of all the catchers in the world, Keisuke Kanoh. Yes, I'm allowed to play favorites if I want.

Since we are talking about him, let me remind you that he underwent spinal surgery on November. Sudden movements were forbidden until last week, but some days ago he was able to go back to training.

In the beginning of the season, Kanoh lost his position as starting catcher after the arrival of Johjima. Kanoh is a good batter, he hits homeruns and steal bases. That is the reason why the team managers decided to move him to the outfield (it seems that is was his initial position). Head coach Katsuhiko Kido is convinced that it is the best solution for Kanoh. His idea was to register him as outfielder next season, so he can compete with Murton for the right field and spur on the young pretenders to the center field (Shunsuke, Tagami, etc...). One of Kido-coach's arguments is that it will be difficult for Kanoh to become catcher once again since he spent most of the season playing as outfielder.

However, Kanoh informed the team managers that he still intends to become the starting catcher next season. According to Sanspo and Daily Sports, Kanoh met yesterday with Kido- coach, and received his approval (as well as Mayumi's) to take part on the catchers' training during the Okinawa camp on next February. He heard this good news on the eve of his birthday. Hang in there Kanoh!
